You can charge new batteries for electric vehicles in 10 minutes Israeli startup StoreDot has created a unique battery for electric vehicles. The novelty can revolutionize the electromobility world, as you can fully charge in just 10 minutes.
Concerns Daimler, Samsung Ventures, and TDK took part in the development of the novelty. It took the startup over three years to build and test the battery. Now work on the battery has reached its final stage, and in 2024 StoreDot intends to put it on the assembly line. The company cites 2028 as a long-term perspective, but not later.
The rechargeable batteries of the new design have 4680 cells. They use not graphite, as in traditional lithium-ion, but semiconductor nanoparticles. Subsequently, they intend to replace them with silicon to reduce the cost. According to the manufacturer, this will make the batteries safer and last longer.
In addition, there is no need to create new production lines. Those on which lithium-ion batteries are now assembled are perfect, which will significantly reduce costs. Detailed specifications have not yet been disclosed. Insiders claim that the energy of one unit will be enough for more than 150 km of track.
